ActServerMonitoring Exception - "Category does not exist"

During an apparent standard install of Windows, the ActServerMonitoring fails to load with message "Category does not exist"

This issue is from a faulty Windows installation (reason unknown) which can be seen when attempting to run "Performance Monitor" and it will give the following error on startup:

  • cd \windows\system32
  • lodctr /r
To verify the command worked correctly, you can either re-open Performance Monitor or type
  • lodctr /q
After this, start the ActControl service and check the logs to see if everything is running correctly.
