HP Servers: CPU Replacement

These instructions will explain on how to replace CPU's on any HP ProLiant server (same procedure for Gen7,8,9 and 10).

Step 1) Uncover server case and find the two large CPU Fans  (they may be covered by a plastic shell, just lift and remove). Each FAN has 4 screws locking it in place, you must unscrew them in Diagonal (X) way, to avoid causing stress on the CPU by uneven pressure.

Step 2) The screwed are not removed, just release the lock on the FAN when all 4 are free and the FAN can be lifted up safely to reveal the CPU under

Step 3) The CPU is locked under a Socket Holder with two Levers, one Lever covers the second Lever, so find the right one, pull to the side and lift gently or it will "Jump" up. Then repeat with the second Lever and the CPU will automatically be lifted up.
